12 Alasan Mengapa Orang Tidak Menjadi Kaya

12 Alasan Mengapa Orang Tidak Menjadi Kaya

Memulai Usaha

Sumber: http://www.squidoo.com/memulai-usaha

Langkah Awal Buka Usaha

Apa Yang Dibutuhkan Pasar?

Pasar dulu baru membuat produk, bukan sebaliknya membuat produk dulu baru mencari pasar.

Peluang Usaha Itu Banyak

Menurut data terakhir BI, jumlah cadangan devisa Indonesia hingga akhir Maret 2011 mencapai US$ 105,7 miliar.

SBY’s Rousing Challenge to Private Sector

Source: thejakartaglobe.com

Camelia Pasandaran | April 20, 2011

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday called on the private sector to take a key role in accelerating the development of the economy.

He said local business , wherever possible, should take preference over foreign partners. “International cooperation is important but it cannot make a country succeed,” Yudhoyono added.

“Let us, in Indonesia, with our own determination, build a high income per capita, increase investment so that even without being part of BRICS, Indonesia can become its own emerging economy,” Yudhoyono said. He was referring to the five emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The president made the remarks while closing a two-day meeting between government and business representatives in Bogor. He hoped the government’s good intention in inviting the business world to become a main stakeholder would have a positive response.

“I want to invite our domestic business sector, you all, to become the main players before we take on partners from friendly countries,” Yudhoyono said, adding that Indonesian businesses had the benefit of knowing the problems that had to be addressed.

Indonesia already had many short-, medium- and long-term development plans, but needed another to guide efforts to accelerate and expand certain specific economic sectors, Yudhoyono told the gathering.

The Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia’s Economic Development (MP3EI), was tabled for discussion at the Bogor meeting. It designated six regions as main economic corridors.

“We are coming out with the MP3EI because we want to accelerate and expand certain sectors of our economy, with clear orientation and timeline – who does what, who invests and how much and where,” Yudhoyono said.

He added that the MP3EI does not substitute other plans and policies but complements them.

The master plan, he said was a “living document,” a long-term strategic plan spanning three governments through to 2025.

“Because it is a living document, there should be a planned commitment,” he said.

He cited the economic sectors needing urgent action from both public and private companies – food, energy, infrastructure, transportation, financing and banking, and micro-, small- and medium-scale enterprises.

“Let us build up mutual trust. The government trusts the business sector, state-owned or private, but our friends in the business sector should also trust the central and regional government to improve things,” Yudhoyono said, adding that “With mutual trust, we can achieve our mutual interests.”

The government, he said, should provide good governance and a good bureaucracy. It should create a sound investment climate and come out with the appropriate policies and regulations. Speaking to the regions, he challenged them to provide the opportunities, climate and conditions conducive to investment.

The business world should implement the best practices, and achieve better tax compliance and corporate social responsibility.

“The MP3EI is not a law, but I hope that it becomes our commitment. Let us implement this even though it is not a law.

“We should make this plan binding for all, the central and regional governments and the business sector,” the president said.

Sofyan Wanandi, chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), agreed that the government and business sectors must join hands for the national interest. “National businessmen must be involved in the development of Indonesia’s economy, we can’t rely fully on foreign investments,” he said.

Therefore, the government must help the business sector in investing the $103 billion it has committed for the next five years, he added.

Planning Your Finance

Source: http://www.danareksaonline.com/reksadana

You certainly understand that every human being have necessities. An adult’s needs will always grow in line with his/her age. From the needs for marriage, buying a house and vehicle, raising children and finally happily enjoying their retirement time.

However, having considerably small amount of funds will not be enough to fulfill all those needs. For example, you probably know the property value in a suburb near Jakarta with the area of 96m2 has reached IDR 200-300 millions. You also need to consider children’s school fees that keep increasing every year. Nowadays, the application fee and deposit to apply to a public junior high school has reached millions of rupiah, imagine that it is only for 3 years education period.

These issue must raise a big question on your mind, “How can I satisfy all these necessities?” And a simple answer to that question is to do your own financial planning as early as possible, and have fun later on!

5 Steps to Have The Fun Later On!

Financial planning is a process of managing your finance in a discipline manner to achieve your desired target and purpose. There are 5 steps you need to do:

1. Check your financial health

Not only physical health, your financial health is also important and can not be ignored. In fact, your financial health should become the first priority before physical health because looking after your physical health will incur some cost.
This first step is very simple. Try to write down all your expenses in 1 month. You will be surprised when you find out where you spent your money on.
In addition, calculate all your wealth and your debts. If necessary, sell your assets to pay off all debts before planning to own something new. You may say your finance is in a healthy condition when you are free from debt.
Do not worry if you do not have any savings after paying off all your debts, because although you do not have any savings, you will be doing something much better for yourself.

2. Dream On!

The second step is to plan your needs. This step can be done by having dreams. Yes, you are right, Dream On! Ask yourself, what do you want in life? A house in Pondok Indah? Jaguar? Five-star apartment? Beat the socialite and own many designer shoes, clothes and hand bags? Or even go to Paris for honeymoon?
If you have done dreaming, then you need to wake up and see if all your dreams have fit your wealth and income. If it hasn’t; you need to start dreaming again. But dream on more realistic dreams. And do not forget to set priority and determine what your first priority is.
One thing worth to remember, other than those amusing things, you also need to include the emergency fund as your priority. Emergency fund? What is that? Emergency fund is the fund needed immediately which arise from unexpected event, such as hospital/ medication fee. Of course you do not wish that to happen but it would be wise to set aside some fund for urgent needs, just like a saying “Prepare your umbrella before it rains.”

3. Categorize your financial needs

This step is very easy. You only need to categorize your needs according to its time frame. The time frame is divided into 3 periods, short-term (for the needs required within 1-3 years), medium-term (3-5 years), and long-term (more than 5 years).
Below are the examples on how to categorize your needs:

Time Frame Financial Goals
Short-Term Emergency Fund to be fulfilled
Medium-Term Paying deposit for the house
Long Term Prepare your retirement fund

4. Recognize the investment type that suites you

The next step might be difficult, as for some of you; this can be something new or something you have not done before. You can learn about the investment type from your family or friends who have planned (well) their financial, hiring a financial consultant/ advisor, or you can also learn it from this website on the Types of Investment section.
After you understand the purpose of each type of investment, choose the one that mostly suits your financial needs.

5. Self-Discipline is Good!

All the steps you do will be ineffective if you do not have self-discipline and high commitment. Both of these basic principles are very important for everything to work well. Do you wish to have a honeymoon in Paris and enjoying your Jaguar? Be Patient! The more discipline you are and keep strong commitment in investing, the faster you reach your dreams.

Start Planning Your Finance as Early as Possible

The earlier you plan your finance and start to invest, the lesser amount of money will be needed (for investment). This will certainly bring benefits for you as you can plan more needs. Let’s look at the illustration about financial planning for education fund bellow:

You have a son and you want him to continue his education abroad when he turns 18 years old. The estimate total fund needed to finish his education overseas is IDR 1 milliard. If you put your money in a fixed-term deposit to obtain IDR 1 milliard; assuming the deposit interest rate of 6% p.a. (before tax), then the monthly investment would be:

Children's Age Investment Period (years) Monthly Investment

3 15 Rp. 3.741.270
8 10 Rp. 6.439.885
13 5 Rp. 14.704.567

Dua tahun lalu, Bagas Agusti Kurniawan mendirikan usaha ojek sepeda motor.

Meski mengutamakan kecepatan, Armand mengklaim dia menjaga keamanan berkendara.

RI predicts 25% drop in coffee production due to weather

National News.
Source: thejakartapost

The Agriculture Ministry is projecting up to a 25 percent drop in Indonesia's coffee production this year due to unpredictable weather.

“Yes, we're predicting that it will drop, but it's only a prediction; it can change. Hopefully we'll be able to boost production again,” the ministry's director for spice plants, Azwar A. B., said Monday.

In 2010, Indonesia produced 709,000 tons of coffee. This year, the figure is predicted to drop to 567,200 tons.

Azwar said the drop was also attributable to the traditional management of plantations, citing that coffee shrubs in plantations were on average 15 years old, resulting in low coffee production.

Replanting, meanwhile, is an issue because of the high cost, which can reach between Rp 7 million (US$812) and Rp 30 million per hectare, he said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

About Precious Metal (Logam Mulia)

Source: logammulia

(Au), chemical element, a dense, lustrous, yellow precious metal of Group Ib, Period 6, of the periodic table. Gold has several qualities that have made it exceptionally valuable throughout history. It is attractive in color and brightness, durable to the point of virtual indestructibility, highly malleable, and usually found in nature in a comparatively pure form.

The history of gold is unequaled by that of any other metal because of its value in the minds of men from earliest times.

Because gold is visually pleasing and workable and does not tarnish or corrode, it was one of the first metals to attract human attention. Examples of elaborate gold workmanship, many in nearly perfect condition, survive from ancient Egyptian, Minoan, Assyrian, and Etruscan artisans, and gold has continued to be a highly favored material out of which to craft jewelry and other decorative object.

In nature its size could be measured start from which is not seen by eyes (some micron, one micron is per-mil) until some centimeter. Big sized gold, some centimeters above called nugget, generally the in form of rock. One of the famous producer of nugget is Australia. Nugget couldn't be easily found because of its size for examples like 'Welcome Stranger' weight 7,1 kg, 53x25 cm, found in1869 in the area of Victoria, 'Hand Of Faith' weight 22,7 kg, 46x18 cm, found in the area of Victoria also in 1980th, ' Golden Eagle I', 38,4 kg, 66x30cm. Because there were such a big number of nugget found in Australia so that made a lot of amateurs use detector to look for it and even there were people who managed this seeking nugget in tour packet hunt.

Gold is widespread in low concentrations in all igneous rocks. Its abundance in the Earth's crust is estimated at about 0.005 parts per million. It occurs mostly in the native state, remaining chemically uncombined except with tellurium, selenium, and possibly bismuth. The element's only naturally occurring isotope is gold-197. Gold often occurs in association with copper and lead deposits, and, though the quantity present is often extremely small, it is readily recovered as a byproduct in the refining of those base metals. Large masses of gold-bearing rock rich enough to be called ores are unusual. Two types of deposits containing significant amounts of gold are known: hydrothermal veins, where it is associated with quartz and pyrite (fool's gold); and placer deposits, both consolidated and unconsolidated, that are derived from the weathering of gold-bearing rocks.

The origin of enriched veins is not fully known, but it is believed that the gold was carried up from great depths with other minerals, at least in partial solid solution, and later precipitated. The gold in rocks usually occurs as invisible disseminated grains, more rarely as flakes large enough to be seen, and even more rarely as masses or vein-lets. Crystals about 2.5 cm (1 inch) or more across have been found in California. Masses, some on the order of 90 kg (200 pounds), have been reported from Australia.

Alluvial deposits of gold found in or along streams were the principal sources of the metal for ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Other deposits were found in Lydia (now in Turkey) and the lands of the Aegean and in Persia (now Iran), India, China, and other lands. During the Middle Ages the chief sources of gold in Europe were the mines of Saxony and Austria. The era of gold production that followed the Spanish discovery of the Americas in the 1490s was probably the greatest the world had witnessed to that time. The exploitation of mines by slave labor and the looting of Indian palaces, temples, and graves in Central and South America resulted in an unprecedented influx of gold that literally unbalanced the economic structure of Europe. From Christopher Columbus' discovery of the New World in 1492 to 1600, more than 225,000 kg (8,000,000 ounces) of gold, or 35 percent of world production, came from South America. The New World's mines--especially those in Colombia--continued into the 17th and 18th centuries to account for 61 and 80 percent, respectively, of world production; 1,350,000 kg (48,000,000 ounces) were mined in the 18th century.

Know Everything About Your Business

Source: http://www.evancarmichael.com/Startup/960/Know-Everything-About-Your-Business.html and visit www.thecarlu.com

Advice For Startups - Know Everything About Your Business

Whatever business you are in, know everything about it. In the event planning business people think that because they can do a dinner party at home for 10 people they can do a large event for 1,000. Start at the bottom and learn all the rungs of the business. Be a waiter, understand catering. Knowing all of the areas of the business will make you more money when you start your company. It will also help when you’re working with suppliers. When I hire waiters and staff, for example, I know what it really costs and where I can make more money. I also understand how to bill the client which is important or I wouldn’t make any money.

Be An Apprentice - Part of knowing everything about your business is learning from someone more experienced than yourself. I finished high school – that’s it. You can take hospitality at school and I’m sure there are great programs but you won’t really learn about it until you get hands on experience. I had a graphics arts business and wanted a part time job working for a caterer. I found it a very interesting business and learned how people ate with their eyes. It’s an artistic business and eventually I got hired to do a party for the opening of Les Miserables in Toronto. The person putting it on liked the work I did and took me to New York. He was my mentor. You can learn both good and bad things from mentors. You know which elements you want to copy and which ones you don’t. Now he’s my business partner and he’s calling me for advice!

Partner In 3s Or Go Solo - Partnerships are tough and I believe that if you have a partnership you should have 3 people involved. When you get into business you think you’ll get along and then you find out things about your partner that you didn’t realize before. Maybe they’re not as entrepreneurial as you, or have different business ethics. If I’m a workaholic does that mean my business partner has to be one? I can’t hold it against a partner if he is not as entrepreneurial. Having a third partner may allow for easier decision making and some accountability that is hard to establish when there are only two people involved. The main thing is getting an understanding of each person’s role. In our partnership at The Carlu, I handle the creative and my partner handles the finances. We may not always agree on everything but we successfully work out all the kinks.

Pick Your Investors Wisely - You have to pick and choose your investors. We have 11 great investors but could have raised all the money we needed in one meeting with one person. We chose not to accept that person’s money because we did our research. Someone can come to you with the money you need but you have to think about what it’s going to do to your business down the road – they could be a competitor to you. Do your research by talking to people and using the Internet. Also look at the questions they ask and answer. Look at where they see the project going in 5 years. Is this in line with your vision? Do they want to build the business to run or to sell? With this particular person we found out that he was very active and not a silent partner type of investor. He would have made it difficult for us. As an entrepreneur you still want to have some control of your vision.

Treat Your Suppliers Like Gold - I believe that what goes around comes around. Your suppliers are your most important business partners. Treat them well and pay them. I pay my suppliers before the job happens because if I’m ever in a bind I can call on them and I’ll get top service over everyone else. If there were 10 parties tomorrow, and I needed supplies, I know I would be their priority. Communication and respect are also important. You have to acknowledge them. Nobody tells people they do a good job anymore. After SARS and 9/11 many companies dropped their Christmas parties to save money – but it’s actually hurting them. We have parties for our suppliers and we try to promote them. If I scratch their backs they will scratch mine.

Match Your Brand - You should also pick the right suppliers to match your brand. Do research on your potential suppliers. How are they with their suppliers and paying their bills? One caterer I dealt with filed for bankruptcy and ripped off their bread supplier and opened up the next day under a new name. Those aren’t the people I want The Carlu to be associated with so we didn’t even consider them from our roster. I wouldn’t have known that if I didn’t do my research.

Trust Your Gut - What is the connection you have with the people who work with and for you? Do you trust them? If I sense a good energy in someone then I want to work with them and if I don’t then I won’t. Paper doesn’t mean much to me. Everyone can tell you how good they are in a resume or RFP. If you don’t trust someone don’t go with them even if they have $100,000 to give you. You have to really understand your gut before you start trusting it though.

Mistakes To Avoid - Know What You’re Good At - Too many entrepreneurs lose out because they are not business people. Don’t be an entrepreneur if you’re not a business person. Someone can be the most creative, unbelievable chef but if they can’t run a business, they should stick to being a chef. Understand your role and responsibility if you’re in it with a partner. If you don’t understand the business, you need a partner. If you understand the business side, do you need a partner?

Don’t Always Trust The Experts - Don’t always trust the professionals that come to you with their opinions and advice. It’s important for you to think outside the box and trust your instincts. There were a couple of things on this floor that the best architects in Canada came to design. We trusted our gut and questioned them because it didn’t feel right. My gut was telling me something was wrong so and didn’t match our vision so we questioned it. We wanted to stay true to our brand.

Work With Family - Everyone says don’t work with family and friends. I disagree and choose to work with my family and friends. More than half of our day is spent working so why not work with the people you know and love? It’s tough at times but it’s worked out for me. In the long run it’s worth it, I see them everyday.

Don’t Jeopardize Your Brand - In the beginning our goal was to support charity and fundraising events. We allowed them to bring in their own donated products and found ways to reduce the cost for them. The problem was they didn’t perform up to our standards, products ran out etc.. When a guest doesn’t enjoy an event the attendees don’t blame the charity, they blame the venue. We’ve learned not to jeopardize our brand anymore and have set strict guidelines.

Trust Your Employees - Once your business is up and running you have to learn to put trust in your employees. You’ll never sleep and drain yourself as an entrepreneur if you don’t put trust in your employees. I’d rather someone make an attempt at something and make a mistake than do nothing at all. It’s the effort that counts. I put trust and confidence in my staff and that has paid off – they respect me and more importantly the business I have created. I couldn’t run my successful business without the staff that I have because they are all integral to the daily success.

Accept The Fear, Take The Risk - You need to accept the fear and take the risk. My dad always told me that I should love what I do and not always worry about the money. The money will come to you if you enjoy what you do. How many people do you know who hate their job? If you want to be an architect why don’t you become one? I get up at 5:00 AM and I absolutely love every second of what I do and it doesn’t feel like work. Accept the fear and go for what you want.

If I Were To Start A New Business… - If I wasn’t running The Carlu I’d probably be an architect or photographer or run a boutique hotel. I enjoy the travel and hospitality industries and need something that is creative. I’d like to work in a carefree environment and ideally somewhere with a beach outside the front door!
